Worship Schedule for January
As Advent draws near, it is harder and harder to avoid thinking it is only about Christmas. Christmas is exceptionally important but, to understand it fully, we need to remind ourselves that Christmas is important because of what it begins. Jesus was not born in order to invent Christmas. Jesus was born to do much more important things than that! This season we will ponder on those things…

Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s classic book, “Life Together” describes in challenging ways what it means to be the body of Christ in community. His insights apply to congregational life in both modern and postmodern times. It gives practical advice on how life together in Christ can be sustained in families and congregations. The role of personal prayer, worship in common, everyday work and Christian service becomes the meal for those who are hungry for the real life of Christian fellowship.

Lutheran Service Book
“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!
Then He said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’”
Revelation 21:5
Each time we participate in worship services, our Father offers us the opportunity to make everything new - through Confession, in remembering our Baptism, when we take the Lord’s Supper, as we greet one another with the Lord’s peace. Doctrinal, liturgical services at Gloria Dei include these elements as part of Divine Service.
We now have something new to help us worship God: Lutheran Service Book! Thanks to the generous gifts of members and friends of Gloria Dei and funds from our memorial fund, we have filled the sanctuary bookracks with LSB and are using it to help us in our worship services and devotions.
God commanded in Revelation 21, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Through the centuries, Christ’s Church has faced many difficulties and experienced many triumphs, as God’s people proclaimed Christ crucified as the way to eternal life. Those inspired by their faith have written down many songs and hymns based on God’s trustworthy and true Word, from David’s ancient psalms to current global contemporary poetry. Collected in LSB, these worshipful psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs help us today to proclaim Christ crucified as we worship our Triune God.
“Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to Your name be the glory,
because of Your love and faithfulness.”
Psalm 115:1
