How do I arrange for a Baptism?

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is happy to arrange for the baptism of children and adults. Baptisms normally occur during worship services. In the case of children younger than 6, the  pastor will meet with the parents for pre-baptismal instruction. With children over the age of 6, the pastor will meet with the child and parents for instruction. Teenagers and adults normally complete confirmation instruction prior to being baptized. How do I arrange for a Wedding?

The privilege of being married at Gloria Dei is reserved for those who publicly practice their Christian faith. That is most clearly seen in regular worship attendance. Normally weddings are limited to Friday evenings, Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. , 2:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. and Sundays after 1:00 p.m. Those interested in having their wedding at Gloria Dei must first meet with the pastor prior to setting the date. At that time details regarding the wedding will be discussed. Other requirements include participation in pre-marital counseling sessions. Please contact the church office to inquire as to the availability of wedding dates and to arrange for a meeting with a pastor.

How do I arrange for my child's Confirmation?

At Gloria Dei, children going into seventh grade begin a course of instruction called confirmation class. In these classes, spread over two years, they are taught the basics of the Christian faith from Luther's Small Catechism. These include the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper, and the "Office of the Keys" - or forgiveness. In addition, students grow in their faith relationship with God and their relationships with others: parents, teachers, pastors and friends. After being instructed in the Lord's Supper, students may choose to receive this sacrament prior to their confirmation. The confirmation experience ends with the Rite of Confirmation, held on a Sunday in May or when the child has completed their instruction. At that time students become communicant members of the Lutheran Church .
